Meet a larger-than-life character eschewing pastry and puppets to pursue pythons!
Meet Julia Baker. When this thrill-seeking, half-German, half-Englishwoman turned 40 she decided to turn her back on her life as a former five-star pastry chef and professional puppeteer and become a snake catcher instead! And luckily for her, she lives in Brisbane, a city with more dangerous snakes than any other state capital in Australia. With their natural habitats disappearing, snakes are on the move and they are now regularly slithering into people’s homes and businesses and eating their pets. In fact, the problem is so bad that Brisbane is one of the most competitive places in the world for snake catchers. But Julia is up for any challenge that comes her way, getting a little help from her Scottish beau, Johnny Bagpipes, and her secret weapon – 12 month-old Jack Russell, Bonnie – who’s being professionally trained to be one of Australia’s first snake-sniffer dogs. Snake Boss follows Julia and her two sidekicks across Brisbane as she seeks to catch a range of bothersome and venomous snakes and return them to the wild. Along the way she tries to change people’s perceptions about snakes and hopes that they might come to love them as much as she does. While Julia is the star of the show we also meet some real characters in the households she visits – as well as a range of snake species. With drama and intrigue, fear, phobias and funny moments crammed into every episode, Snake Boss is a series that triumphs at every slithery twist and turn.
