Yorkshire Vet - Season 1

An observational documentary with exclusive access to The Yorkshire Vet

Joining Julian Norton is his partner, fellow vet and former Herriot trainee, Peter Wright together with their dedicated team of staff at his practice, Skeldale Veterinary Centre, James Herriot’s original practice, based in the picturesque market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and their clientele – both two-legged and four-legged!

Steeped in history and rich with heritage, the original ‘James Herriot’ practice which was set up by the late Donald Sinclair and the late Alf Wight aka James Herriot in 1940 resulting in Alf’s books and, later, the hugely popular TV series ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL.

The practice may have moved from the original premises to a purpose-built facility but the heart and soul of this historic veterinary practice is very much alive and beating!

All vets at Skeldale have been trained to deal with all animals great and small with the expertise to administer medical aid and surgical skills to any animal whatever its size - from alpacas to piglets, cats to cows, hamsters to horses, bulldogs to bullocks, no animal is too big or too small for this truly rural ‘mixed’ practice.

Skeldale’s team have a very real and honest passion for caring for animals and want to ensure that the Practice’s heritage and historic reputation is kept alive and intact.  With a clientele that rarely has insurance, animal welfare always comes before profit - together with an extra dose of that most vital medicine, tender loving care.
