Doc Martin - Season 1

The series follows Doc Martin as he turns his back on life as a celebrated London surgeon and moves to a sleepy Cornish village to become the local doctor. Despite his surgical brilliance, Doc Martin lacks any interpersonal skills and his bedside manner soon starts to upset his new patients.

Doc Martin finds the surgery in disarray - the medical equipment is beyond repair, and the patients’ records are a mess. To top it all he inherits the world’s most incompetent receptionist, Elaine Denham, who clearly resents Doc Martin moving in.

The community is united in horror at their foul new GP. Doc Martin soon finds he needs all the allies he can get as he tries to negotiate his way around village life with hilarious consequences

Martin Clunes is joined by a prestigious cast including Stephanie Cole as his Aunt Joan, who provides him with the emotional support he needs to face his new surroundings. Caroline Catz plays primary school teacher Louisa Glasson. Attracted to her though he is, Doc Martin is helpless.

Ian McNeice and Joe Absolom star as father and son, Bert and Al Large, who try to sort out Portwenn’s plumbing problems. Lucy Punch plays the feisty receptionist Elaine. Felicity Montagu plays Caroline, a local radio presenter
