In June this year, one of Wales’ biggest musical names will be returning to Bangor Cathedral for a homecoming celebration with a difference.
This is the first time he’s been back to perform at the cathedral in 33 years. Back to the place he calls home, and the place that was his nurturing ground for a career that’s gone on to be filled with success.
This concert is set to be one with a difference. Following the discovery of previous recordings of himself as a boy – until this year, unreleased – his new album features Aled in a duet with his younger self.
A truly magical blending of the now and then, and a perfect repertoire for performing at Bangor.
This one-off special will showcase the concert at the cathedral in all its glory, and working alongside Aled, the performance will include a varied repertoire of some of the singer’s most popular songs.
The programme will also explore the discovery of the previously unreleased material, and uncover how a modern recording artist blends the new and the old to create such a fantastic experience for audiences.
And in this newly discovered material there’ll be a chance to explore what Aled’s childhood is meant to him. The important lessons he learnt from it, and how as a child, he didn’t even have the confidence to consider himself a singer. This is a chance to explore it all.
