Italian Conductor Andrea Colombini is arguably the biggest Puccini fan in the world. He has dedicated his whole life to preserving the legacy of the world famous opera composer in the place of his birth, the beautiful and historic walled city of Lucca, in Tuscany. Now, in homage to the Maestro, Andrea is staging his own production of La Boheme in Lucca’s charming Teatro del Giglio and we follow him casting, rehearsing and preparing for this incredible undertaking. Along the way Andrea takes time out to find out more about Puccini’s life, loves and just what it was that made him the ‘rock star’ of his day. In addition, a rare interview with the composer’s granddaughter, Simonetta, gives us a unique insight into how Giacomo Puccini wrote about his own life experiences.
