On the job with the UK’s most pioneering police force
This stylish new series uses exclusive access to a police force trialling cutting-edge technology to raise the bar for observational documentaries to a whole new level. Staffordshire is a county in the UK and recently, in a bid for greater transparency and to help bring offenders to justice, its police force has been pioneering the use of personal, body-worn cameras. This means that as an officer chases down a drug dealer, comforts a victim of domestic abuse or tries to placate a rowdy football crowd, viewers will be right there with them, experiencing every minute in amazing detail. Through an impressive bunch of committed and charismatic characters, we’ll see their world, up close and personal: from regular coppers, rapid response, dog handlers and plain clothes officers to specialists working with – and trying to find solutions for – some of the most vulnerable people in society. No job is too big or small for this force and through characters such as Tatts – a former psychiatric nurse – and Mozza, who gave up teacher training to join the force, we’ll experience their highs and lows, their sense of humour and their incredible dedication to the job. The hard-hitting bodycam footage will be mixed with dash cam film to further ensure a front row seat for all the action and we’ll also have scene-setting drone footage as well as intimate testimony from the officers themselves – as well as selected criminals. All of which combines to create our best look yet at 21st century frontline policing.
