Four members of the public take part in a life-changing challenge.
Adventurer and presenter Hannah White chooses four members of the public to take part in a challenge that will change their lives. In just 12 weeks, Hannah's mission is to get them to the starting line of one of the world's toughest physical endurance races.
As one of the UK’s most successful single-handed sailors, crossing the Atlantic, solo, three times, Hannah is used to taking on a challenge, but is this a challenge too far? She’ll be mentoring overweight and unfit members of the public through the physical and mental pressures of tackling some of the most notorious sporting events on the planet.
Hannah’s competitors are selected from different sectors of society. In this series she chooses four unfit doctors, four wobbly car dealers, four boozy pub landlords and four members of the Woman’s Institute, famous for its obsession with cakes.
They are trained with the necessary skills to attempt events from ‘The World’s Toughest Canoe Race’ in Texas to ‘The Bone Breaker’, a 127 mile cycle race across the Pyrenees; to a 71 mile charity triathlon in California and a 41 mile quadrathlon across the western coast of Ireland, with a reputation as the toughest race in Europe.
